(1) The Natural Maad مد طبيعى
Letters of Maad:
(1) Alif (ألف) preceded by fathah
(2) Waw (و) preceded by damah
(3) Yaa (ى) preceded by kasrah

Second “yaa” in ” يُعطِيك “

(2) Maad “Motasel” and “Monfasel”المد المتصل والمنفصل
There are some details to know which one is Maad “Motasel” and which one is “Monfasel” and there are different options for the number of beats “عدد الحركات” for each one of them. In order to simplify the rule, we will consider only one option, and therefore we state the rule as follows.
If you have letter of Maad followed by “Hamzah” , then elongate the letter of Maad four beats “حركات”.
Examples:

(3) Maad Lazim Kalimee مد لازم كلمى
The letter of Maad must be elongated six beats “حركات”
(a) Maad Lazim Kalimee Motaqal: If the letter of Maad followed by shadah شده
Examples:

(b) Maad Lazim Kalimee Mokhafaf: If the letter of Maad followed by secoon سكون in the same word

(4) Maad Lazim Harfiee “حرفى”
This is for the discrete letters “الحروف المُقطَّعة” which have elongation sign at the beginning of the chapter.
